Reform looks less likely in Texas

By Karyn Harlow — Dallas Morning News Letter to the Editor
November 15, 2009
I am encouraged that health care legislation passed the House. At the same time, I know that hoping for real health care reform in our state is a pipe dream, given our current representation in the House and Senate. Even if a bill is passed in the [Read More →]

Politicians relying on fear to defeat health care

By Paul Carman — Ironton Tribune, Ohio Letter to the Editor
November 14, 2009
When politicians want to spin public opinion on a particular issue, and the facts aren’t working, they usually resort to fear.
The health insurance debate that’s raging in Washington has fallen to that level.
So, when you hear someone trying to scare a group of constituents, take time and put [Read More →]

Windfall for insurers

By Allen Klinefelter — Salt Lake Tribune Letter to the Editor
November 13, 2009
We have listened endlessly to people for and against health care reform. At this point, I feel the Democrats and Republicans have teamed up together to defeat any true reform of the health care insurance business.
The role of the Republicans was to keep saying “no” [Read More →]

Getting serious about health care reform

By John Foley in a Chicago Tribune Letter to the Editor
November 12, 2009
Anyone who has been following the health care debate should realize, regardless of your political affiliation, that the only ones who will benefit by this bill will be the special interests (medical, pharmaceutical, law, insurance, etc.) and not mainstream America.
If we were serious about health [Read More →]

Boehner’s Mistake Reveals Flawed Constitutional Interpretation

Boehner, along with the rest of his Republican colleagues, stood on the steps of the Capitol waving “his” copy of [Read More →]

At least the Democrats are trying

By Edsel Inberg — Letter to the Editor of the Baxter-Bulletin of Mountain Home, Arkansas
November 3, 2009
The Republican Party’s health care plan is: don’t get sick, but if you do, die quickly. The health care reform plan being considered in Congress is supported by most people, by most doctors and by most members of Congress. This [Read More →]

Letters to the Editor of the New York Times: Lobbyists in the Health Care Fray

One of my favorite sections of many newspapers is the Letters to the Editor, particularly where such letters are well-written and well-thought out rather than rambling diatribes. I even enjoy reading such letters that disagree with my own opinion and find that they often help me better shape that opinion. It is clear that often times the words of regular thoughtful, literate citizens exceed our expectations.
